Dr. Brenda Shaffer presented “Showdown with Iran: Implications for Global Oil” to the Energy Academic Group at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. The seminar examined Iran’s attack on the Abqaiq oil processing complex in Saudi Arabia and Tehran’s broader strategy of targeting oil infrastructure to elevate global prices.
Dr. Shaffer analyzed the implications for petroleum markets and liquefied natural gas trade in the Persian Gulf, as well as the domestic political factors shaping Iran’s future foreign policy decisions.
